The Academies
The Need
Quality education is the key to success today. This is especially true in developing countries. In Ghana, primary and high school education is free, but unfortunately many times this education does not prepare students for a productive future. For example, in one Ave-Afiadenyigba junior high school, students rarely pass the exam to continue on to high school. Too many students are being left without a future. In addition, the Ave-Afiadenyigba community strongly desires the moral and ethical foundation that a Catholic education provides.
The Vision
Leaders in Ave-Afiadenyigba recognize the need for high quality educational opportunities for their children. Partnering with friends from around the world, the Fulton Sheen Catholic Academies will provide a high quality Catholic education to the children of the region. The Fulton Sheen Academies are committed to sharing what works with other schools in the area to eventually improve educational opportunities throughout the region.
The Plan
The Primary Academy is scheduled to open in September 2009 with Kindergarten and Primary 1 grades. Over the next 5 years, the Primary Academy will grow to serve Kindergarten through sixth grade. A Junior High and eventually a High School / Technical Academy are planned once the Primary Academy is completed.
