Why Archbishop Fulton Sheen?
We have put this project under the guidance and protection of Archbishop Fulton Sheen, Servant of God. It is a fitting choice for a number of reasons:
- The Ave-Afiadenyigba community is building a Catholic school system that will teach students the tremendous truths of our Catholic faith. Archbishop Sheen was one of the greatest evangelists of the 20th century.
- Archbishop Sheen is a native of the Peoria Diocese, whose cause for canonization as a Saint is currently under investigation. Parishes in the Peoria Diocese are major partners in this effort.
- Fulton Sheen served as the National Director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith from 1950 - 1966. In addition, his public ministry on radio and TV brought Christ's message of salvation to countless people. This project continues that work.
